The Seychelles is a small archipelago in the Indian Ocean consisting of 115 islands. The three main islands are Mahé, Praslin, and La Digue. Arguably, the Seychelles has some of the world's most stunning beaches with views straight out of a travel magazine. With its granite rocks rising from the ocean, unique white sand, crystal-clear water, sea life, palm forest, etc., the Seychelles is a one-of-a-kind destination.
To help you plan your trip, below is a list of what we consider to be some of the best places to visit in the Seychelles:
5 - Victoria Market (Mahe)
The Victoria market is located in the very heart of the capital city of Victoria. A visit to the market will allow you to buy some of the freshest local fruit, spices, and fish on the island. Also, everything in the market is incredibly affordable. During our stay, we often bought whole tuna fish for three to four dollars per fish!
4 - Cote D'Or Beach(Praslin)
Cote D'Or Beach is a stunning 2,5-km—long stretch of white sand beach, offering snorkeling and boat excursions. On the beach's west side is a boulder formation that you can easily walk to at low tide. Ensure you don't stay on the rocks too long since the tide can come in quickly, making you swim back.
3- Beau Vallon Night Market (Mahe)
Have you ever been to a night market on the beach with bonfires, live music, fresh food, and amazing people? If you haven't, Beau Vallon Night Market is definitely the place to go. We were lucky enough for our awesome Airbnb host to take us to the market the first night we arrived in Mahe. Every Wednesday evening, as the sun sets, the locals gather together at Beau Vallon for a night of celebration. In the market, you will find all types of grilled fish, curries, drinks, music, fire dancing, and plenty of friendly Sechellens enjoying life to the fullest.
2 - Vallée de Mai Nature Reserve (Praslin)
The Vallée de Mai is a nature reserve on Praslin Island. The forest is home to many endemic palm species, including the famous "coco de mer" palm.
The coco de mer nut is the largest and heaviest seed in the world! A day trip to the Vallée de Mai Nature Reserve will allow you to see plenty of coco de mer palm trees. Although, do not attempt to take a coco de mer from anywhere on the island, as they are a protected species; if you do try to take one, you will be fined if you can't provide proof of purchase from an authorized dealer.
1- Anse Source D'Argent (La Digue)
Out of all the things to do in the Seychelles, if there is one place you shouldn't miss visiting, it's Anse Source D'Argent! Located on the island of La Digue, it is considered one of the world's most beautiful beaches. Anse Source D'Argent is unique thanks to its remoteness, the enormous granite rock formations along the coast, and its pristine clear water and white sand. There is only one word I can think of to describe this beach: breathtaking.
